The LagoonsCity: Dubai
The Lagoons is a mixed-use freehold development being constructed along Dubai Creek coastline. The AED 66 billion (US$ 18 billion)project will cover an area of 70 million square feet (6.5 million square meters) and contains 40 kilometers (25 miles) of waterfront land. It wil be situated along side of Dubai Festival City and the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. It contains seven bridge-interlinking islands that is being built to provide an environmental living to guarantee harmonious existence with the surrounding. The wonderfully landscaped islands will comprise of residential units, shopping centers, office buildings, resorts, five-star hotels, and marinas. It will also contain a planetarium, museum, art center, theater, and Dubai's first opera house. Transportation in the project will be possible by the island-connecting bridges, boats, water taxis, and its own Light Railway Passenger Train system.
The Lagoons is located at the central part of Dubai on the Dubai Creek nearby to the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. The development is strategically located just 10 minutes from Dubai International Airport, via close to Ras Al Khor Road and Nadd Al Hammar Road. There is easy access to Emirates Road and Sheik Zayed Road, the major arterial routes in Dubai. The Lagoons can be reached by water from Bur Dubai, Deira and Sheik Zayed Road. A new bridge will cross the creek to Al Jadaf. Boats and water taxis will run freely between the islands, while a Light Railway Passenger Train system will serve key locations all through The Lagoons, and will interconnect with Dubai’s main network. Or simply travel along the series of beautifully designed bridges which is join the islands to one another.
