Dubai Bans E-Scooters in Metros and Trams

Commuters will no longer be allowed to bring e-scooters into Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram starting from March 1, 2024. In an official announcement on its X page, the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) said passengers are prohibited from carrying their last-mile transport due to safety concerns. Moreover, Dubai is set to introduce an AI-enhanced robot system to identify rule violations by cyclists and other users of "soft mobility" vehicles.

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the Dubai Metro Blue Line construction is set to kick off this year. Upon completion, this transformative addition to transportation in Dubai will link five primary urban regions: Bur Dubai and Deira, Downtown and Business Bay, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai Marina and JBR, and Expo City Dubai. Spanning a total of 14 stations, the AED 18 billion ($4.9 billion) venture is scheduled for completion in 2029.

Indian PM inaugurates the UAE's first traditional Hindu temple

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Baps Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi during a grand ceremony on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Located in the Abu Mureikha area, it is the first traditional hand-carved Hindu temple in the Middle East and the largest.

In 2015, the UAE government granted the generous 27-acre plot to construct the religious site. RTA To Build a Massive Bridge Between Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a deal to construct a two-lane bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour. The primary objective is to significantly reduce average travel times from 12 minutes to three minutes, enhancing connectivity to the waterfront district.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, in collaboration with harbor owner Shamal Holding, will build this 1,500-meter transport link. The initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to enhance further the emirate's road infrastructure in response to the needs of its expanding population.

DMCC Commences Second Phase of Uptown Dubai Development

DMCC, the dynamic free zone and business hub in Dubai, has initiated the construction of the Uptown Dubai project's second phase. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the commencement of construction activities, following the selection of Swissboring Overseas Piling Corporation to oversee the crucial foundation and enabling work. As per the statement released by DMCC, Swissboring's primary responsibilities encompass implementing basement retention systems for the three basement levels of the twin towers. 

Etihad Rail makes first passenger trip from Abu Dhabi to Al Dhannah

On Thursday, January 26, Etihad Rail completed its first passenger journey from Abu Dhabi to Al Dhannah. Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and the Managing Director and Group Chief Executive of Adnoc were among the passengers. It's important to note that the new train service is still under development. Although the rail service will initially only be available for Adnoc workers, it is anticipated to be open to other passengers, too.

Set to become the largest commercial business district in Ras Al Khaimah, RAK Central will feature three million sq. ft. of rentable office space, more than 4,000 apartments, and three hotels. JW Marriott’s First Residential Property in the GCC to Open in Al Marjan Island

The first branded JW Marriott residential property in the GCC has been launched in Ras Al Khaimah. WOW Resorts, a distinguished developer of premium resorts and residences, officially announced the launch of JW Marriott Residences & JW Marriott Al Marjan Island Resort.

The property will be established on Al Marjan Island for approximately AED 4.8 billion ($1.3 billion). Renowned Beverly Hills architect Tony Ashai has designed the project with the Dubai-based Lead Consultants Architecture Design Unit, ADU.

Golden Visa in UAE: Property Investors Exempted from Minimum Down-Payment Requirement

Dubai this week announced a significant change to its Golden Visa requirements for investors, eliminating the AED 1 million down payment condition. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has announced four significant appointments within the government of Dubai. The latest news in Dubai about the top hirings includes:

  • Aisha Abdullah Miran, appointed as Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai
  • Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, appointed as Director General of Courts
  • Mohammed Abdullah Linjawi, appointed as Director General of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority
  • Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, appointed as Director General of the Land and Property Department.
